FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
It all depends on the material and condition of your exterior home. For wood elements like siding, we recommend every 6 years. Stucco or bricks can go a little longer - but shouldn’t be left longer than 10 years. Stained siding or shingles should be repainted every 3 years to prevent damage. However, if you notice cracking or peeling in your paint, the time for a fresh coat is now in order to stop further deterioration.
-
NOVAK Painting uses Sherwin Williams or Benjamin Moore paints. Through our years of experience, we know this paint yields the best results and finish. They both provide a similar level of quality for external painting. The different options for shades/tones is often the deciding factor for homeowners.
-
You have three leading options: flat, satin, and semigloss. Your choice will depend on the type of surface we are painting. For example, trim looks best in semi-gloss but wood looks best with a flat or satin finish. Other options to consider is durability, as semi-gloss offers the best protection against dirt and weather. Our team of painters can discuss the different options to help you decide.
-
We always cover plants with a light drop cloth, including shrubs and bushes. Any foliage or branches blocking clearance should be pruned before our external painters begin.
-
Our exterior house painters will always wash your house beforehand because it affects the quality of the finish. Washing the house allows us to remove dirt and mildew so the paint can go onto a clean surface.
